PRODUCT REVIEW: Tailored Beauty Perfect Coils Curling Jelly

For today’s blog post we’ll be reviewing the Tailored Beauty Perfect Coils Curling Jelly.

By now you should know that I am willing to try most stylers especially if they are gel like.
I love a good styler especially ones that ahs great reviews from you guys and our bigger community.

I am a DIY kind of girl and so is the creator of the Tailored Beauty Perfect Coils Curling Jelly.
She started making her DIY products in her kitchen, sharing them on youtube, selling them on Esty and eventually has gone global. As well as, she has not compromised on the use of natural ingredients in her products, including the gel. So, I decided why not.

Spoil your curls with a natural blend of honey, Jamaican black castor oil, rosemary, horsetail and other fine botanical ingredients. It is perfect for defining all hair types, natural botanical blend that promotes healthy hair growth, detangles as it defines, long lasting hold, shine without the crunch, and locks in moisture.

Key ingredients that re this beautiful botanical blend is water (hydration).
As well as, glycerin, honey, Jamaican black castor oil, nettle extract, rosemary, henna, and so much more.

I truly love all of the natural ingredients that are in it.
It make me feel great knowing that my hair will be nourished while I am using the gel.
It is filled with hydration, shine, definition, growth and so much.
So I don’t worry about the gel “drying” out my hair or “Scrunching” out the crunch.

The gel is a clear gel.
There is no colour which was a bit surprising to me because I expected it to take the colour of henna or Jamaican black castor oil which is usually dark.

It feels like a perfect blend of a gel with hold and with hydration.
I think this is because the first ingredient is water. As well as, it has other hydrating properties in it.
So my curls didn’t feel weighed down when applied as is normally the case with thick gels.

Once applied it goes on smoothly especially with the praying hands method.
Your curls will start to pop and you can make them pop even more with your Denman brush or detangling brush. It gives you enough hold to do a twist out, braid out and even a wash and go. So, take your pick.

And it has a faint crispy, fresh scent.
This is the best description because the smell isn’t strong however it spells great.
This may be the essential oils that are used within it.
So if you like neutral scents or you are allergic – then this could be a choice for you.

This makes me extremely excited to try the other products within the line.

Staple because of what the brand stands for,
the ingredients,
and the fact that it works on my hair.

This product is great for you if:

 1. You have low/high porosity hair

 2. You are a fan of wash and gos

 3. You are a lover of all natural or organic natural hair products

 4. You love supporting black owned brands

SIDE NOTE: I smelled the rest of the product line and they smell soo good (and it’s all natural).

Everyone remembers Tracee from girlfriends because she always wore her curly hair which was an inspiration to many. And when she launched her natural hair business PATTERN, longtime fans of Tracee brand’s and girlfriends (like me) were going to support. And so, I did by purchasing this gel. Also, as a lover of twist outs, I’m always looking for alternatives to making my homemade flaxseed gel.

Never damaging or drying, our flexible Strong Hold Gel provides long-lasting hold without breaking hair or edges. Infused with Sea Moss, Aloe Vera & Chia Seeds to nourish & fortify curls, our healthy-hold gel texture has a glorious, luscious built-in slippage to easily distribute through the hair—ideal for a slick look of your choosing & styles that need extra support.

When I opened it, I wasn’t expecting a clear gel.

It is clear to that of a gel with a max 10 hold.

As well as, it is fairly thick.

It’s not as thick as an eco styler gel but it can get the job done.

if you’re a natural who doesn’t like a gel with a lot of holds – then you can pass on purchasing it.

However, it doesn’t give your hair the crunch feeling or gel cast that is usually broken with your favorite oil.

Your curls are extremely defined and shiny after using it.

I recommend moisturizing before using the gel.

My hair did not feel dry after using it with and without moisturizing my curls.

However, to be on the safer side ensure to moisturize.

A thick and creamy moisturizer won’t work well with the gel because it will leave a white cast that can be difficult to remove depending on what moisturizer you used. Ensure to use a “liquid” moisturizer that you can spritz the hair with. Or, you can use plain old h20 to get your curls popping and hydrated.

If you like your gel with a lot of hold without the crunch.

Then, this is a good purchase.

It’s great for wash and go’s, twist outs, braid outs, and even sleek styles.

And as a bonus, no fragrance is in it which may have affected your sinuses AT ALL.

The Beauty Insider

Hi my lovely, we have we new segment called the “Beauty Insider”.  Whoop Whoop!!

This segment is going to give us all just what we need “The real sh*t!”

This is for the real from the real!

The first review is by an amazing and upcoming YouTuber Reanna.Elwin  she is are new beauty insider for here at  LookAtHerHair

So let’s get started!

The unique shape and superior quality makes this your new must-have makeup sponge blender.

Where did you hear about this product?

A review by ‘eltoria’ on youtube

How is it best used?

Blending out foundation and or concealer

What does it smell and feel like?

Honestly I don’t think it smells of anything. There isn’t a strong enough scent coming from it for me to catch a smell (which is really good cause a lot of makeup products or makeup tools tend to have a strong smell like chemicals or it had just come out of a factory haha)

How much does it cost?

£7.46 with free post and package!!

Where can you buy it from?

There website or on amazon

How do you rate it out of 10?

10/10 defiantly

Overall overview of the product….

The most used product when doing makeup is foundation or concealer and in my opinion there is NO better tool than to use the pamper therapy sponge to blend them out. The bottom of the sponge is round and once dampened with water it blends the foundation so smoothly. There is also a flat side of the sponge with a pointed corner which is perfect for getting right in the corner of your eyes when blending concealer; I feel as though the design of other sponges doesn’t work as good as this sponge especially when blending concealer around your eyes because it’s too bulky or not pointed enough but this sponge is just perfect.

Hair talk

Hi my lovely friends, I have amazing women and supremum today on my blog.  I would like you to all meet Sareta she is taking over the ‘HAIR WHAT I’VE GOT TO SAY’ segment.

Introduce yourself, what do you do?

I’m Sareta, mother of 3 boys and I currently blog about my lifestyle and motherhood. I think of myself as a creative person, so my blog and images allow me to have that artistic release that I somewhat miss. As an ex professional makeup artist, the last 3 years as a stay at home mum have been a big change.

What’s your favourite thing about your work?

The favourite thing about blogging is the fact that I can share my work with my kids. As I share my story and theirs, I give them a chance to get involved. The two older boys have written and vlogged a few times on the site and loved it. There’s no pressure so they can dip in and out when they want.

Are you natural or relaxed (is that your natural hair colour and texture)

My hair is currently semi natural. It’s not relaxed so I have the best of both worlds. I can stay natural or blow it out now and again. I have colour throughout, which has loosened the curls somewhat. This is why I say I’m not 100% natural!

What are your go to products?

At the moment I’m using Paul Walker hair products. Ultimate Moisture Sulphate Free Shampoo and Conditioner. The Beautiful Kinks Styling Créme Gelee and Q Oil Quench Essential Oil.

Roughly every 4 weeks I use Silver Shampoo by BLEACH LONDON, it’s  a purple toning shampoo that gets rid of brassy hues. Since my hair has been lightened, I need to maintain the health of my hair by using good products and getting regular trims. Approx every 8 weeks. *A massive shout out to my hairdresser Loz at Thirty Salon. (

What is your all time favourite hairstyle?

I love Senegalese Twists. I’ve often done them myself in lots of different colours, grey being my favourite. I love them when you can just put them up and have a messy bun. They’re my favourite style for holidays, hot periods or when I want to take a break from styling my hair.

What are your 3 top hair care tips?

Moisture, products that suit your own hair type and protection. I find my hair is in its best condition when I use products that suit my hair type. Whether I’m wearing it straight or kinky. Protection is key. Whether it’s taking a break from styling or protecting from the weather. I like to put my hair in braids or twists now and again. Don’t be afraid of water! I lightly spritz my hair at night before I twist and wrap. A little water with Rosemary essential oils, then I seal in that moisture with Andrew Walker’s Q Oil Quench Essential Oil.

Do you have a hair routine?

Depending on how I wear it yes. Spritzing and twisting if I’m going to be curly the next day. Otherwise if it’s straight, I’ll use a heat protecting spray by JOICO – ‘Smooth Cure’. That way I’m happy that my hair is protected against any heat that I use, such as GHD straighteners or a blow drier.

Describe yourself in five words?

Loud, fun, creative, playful and vibrant.

What helps give you inspiration/motivation?

I love images. My inspiration comes from seeing fashion, nature or art. I love Pinterest. It’s such a great way to store all your ideas and find exactly what you’re looking for.

What are the top three things on your bucket list?

Buying a house, Travelling and more tattoos. Not necessarily in that order!

What made you laugh this week?

My cousin and my sister. We have a Whatsapp group that we talk in everyday, all day. Wether it’s about whats happening in our lives that day or the lasted Beyoncé pregnancy meme, these two have me in tears daily.
